Visiting Scholar attends Catamount Tip Off at UVM

Fans of the University of Vermont men's and women's basketball teams were able to get a first glimpse of the Catamounts at the annual Catamount Tip-Off this past Saturday, October 22 at Patrick Gymnasium. Amongst the cheering fans was Visiting Scholar Crystal Shen, who enjoyed her first Catamount basketball game. Read her review below:

It's a rainy day but I am excited. Guess what? I watched a Catamount basketball game in UVM with my own eyes!

Linda (my new host family) and I arrived at Roy L. Patrick Memorial Gymnasium before 12 and paid $5 to watch the basketball game. The game was held to raise funds for cancer patients. We bought pizza for lunch and got free bottled water, potato chips and popcorn. There were three shows: women's basketball, men's basketball and mixed basketball. The players are all from UVM’s Catamount teams. Each show lasted 20 minutes and during the intervals, two cheering teams gave dances to add lively atmosphere to the gymnasium. It's really exciting to be on the spot, cheering and clapping when there are shots or goals. The 3-point shot show caught everyone's eye. Some freshmen's outstanding performance won themselves warm applauses from the spectators. At the end of the games, I took several pictures with the mascot.

Without a doubt, I enjoyed every minute of the game!
