Honesburg students learn about Lijiang with Tao Ye

Last month Visiting Scholar Tao Ye introduced students at Hinesburg Community School to images and art from her hometown in Lijiang, China. Lijiang City is located in the northwestern portion of Yunnan and borders Sichuan. The old town of Lijiang differs from other ancient Chinese cities in architecture, history and the culture of its traditional residents the Naxi people.

“Students were curious about my hometown, and they asked me a lot of questions. They wanted to learn more about China.” wrote Tao Ye about the experience in a recent email to ASOP staff. Tao ye said that it was an interesting experience for both the students and herself.
